Mary Edna Shaw was the 5th child of 14 children born to Jonas Shaw, Sr. and Henrietta Russell Shaw in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Her Christian life began at an early age at New Light Missionary Baptist Church.
Mary attended Old Adams Elementary and graduated from G. W. Griffin High School in Lake Providence, La in 1957. After graduation, she married Robert (Bob) Harris in Lake Providence. They later relocated to Chicago, Illinois where Mary worked for Newark Electronics in Chicago, Illinois for over 35 years before retiring. She was also a licensed beautician and worked out of her basement for many years. Mary and Bob were married for about 40 years. Many years after his death, she met and married Charles Brinson who also preceded her in passing. She was a loyal and caring spouse to both Bob and Charles during their illnesses.
Mary was a member of Grace Community Christian Church and served on the Finance committee, the Pastor Aid committee, the Hospitality committee, and the Announcement Clerk where Pastor Carl Cooper in Country Club Hills is the pastor.
Mary enjoyed bowling and socializing with family and friends, reading the Bible, electronic games, and cooking. She loved her family and was firm in correcting them when they were wrong.
Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert (B0b) Russell and Ethel Sampson; parents, Jonas and Henrietta Shaw; brothers, Jonas Shaw Jr., Joseph Shaw, Mac Arthur Shaw, Gene Autry Shaw, Tommie Lee Shaw, Clyde Ernest Shaw and Alfred Lee Shaw; sisters, Cleotha Shaw Thomas and Joanna Shaw Speeks.
