GLORIA JEAN (FOUNTAIN) JONES

A Beautiful Life

Gloria Jean Fountain Jones was born August 2, 1954 in Madison Parish, LA, to the late Abner Heathmon, SR and Cleo Fountain Heathmon.  Gloria, affectionately known by “Jean", accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Porter Henderson.  She joined St. John M.B. Church, Mound Project, and remained under the leadership of Rev. Edward Kline, JR where she faithfully served as a member of the usher board until she transitioned from her earthly home.

Gloria graduated from Thomastown High School in Tallulah, LA in 1973.  She was employed at several companies throughout her life and retired from her position  as a ward clerk at the Madison Parish Hospital. Gloria had a very good sense of humor and enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball and WWE wrestling. She touched many hearts and truly loved Almighty God Jesus Christ and her family.

Gloria was joined in holy matrimony to Michael Jones, SR, on July 8, 1973 and was married for ten years.  To this union, two children were born. On Sunday, December 6, 2020 at River Region Hospital, in Vicksburg, MS, the Lord summoned her presence. Her time here was served well.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, co-worker, and friend. Gloria was preceded  in death by her father, Rev. Abner Heathmon, SR; three sisters: Dorothy Lewis, Shirley Fountain and Beatrice Heathmon; and one brother, Abner Heathmon, JR.

Left to cherish her beautiful life and memories are:  one son, Michael Jones, JR, Vicksburg, MS (Tekesiha); one daughter, Sharonda Jones, Tallulah, LA; five grandchildren:  Devontae Jones, Michael Jones, III, Rylee Jones, Kiyah Jackson, and Miyah Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Mi'Chaea Jones; seven sisters, Alinda Fountain and Carolyn Fountain both of Tallulah, LA, Barbara Ferguson, Bertha Heathmon, Pamela Heathmon, Gina Brandon (Thomas), all of Las Vegas, NV, and  Hattie Heathmon, Richmond, CA; four brothers:  Dewayne Fountain, (Flora), Tallulah, LA, Kenneth Fountain, (Latabitha) Houma, LA, Lee Heathmon, and Curtis Heathmon (Crystale) both of Las Vegas, NV and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8
