ETHEL LEE (ALLEN) HAYES

Ethel Lee Allen-Hayes was born June 5, 1950, to the union of Mr. Henry Allen, Sr., and Mrs. Jessie Mae B. Allen in Lake Providence, Louisiana. She will be well-missed and forever in our hearts.

Ethel was educated in the East Carroll Parish school system of Lake Providence, Louisiana. Afterwards, in 1966, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, with her oldest sister and oldest brother. She moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1991, and got custody of her grandchildren in 1992. She gave all her grandchildren Hebrew names. The tradition followed with her grandchildren giving their children Hebrew names.

She worked various jobs. Ethel’s belief was Hebrew Ysraelite. Blessed be unto Yahuwah Eloah of Abraham, Ysaac, and Yacob. Ethel’s likes were dancing and partying hard. She lived life to the fullest.

On March 13, 1968, her only child was born, Lashawanda Deniece Allen, in Chicago, Illinois. She met Charles Hayes at the age of 28 and was married in 1978.

Ethel departed this life on October 28, 2019, at 9:40 p.m., surrounded by family in her home.

Preceding her in death are: her parents, Mr. Henry Allen, Sr., (May 22, 1998) and Jessie Mae B. Allen (March 9, 2014); sister, Christine Allen (October 18, 1964); auntie, Bernice Newman (September 26, 1998); uncle, Boyd Newman, whom she stayed with for a short while; godfather, Mr. Bitt Stevenson; and godmother, Mrs. Rebecca Stevenson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: siblings, Ella Best, of Milwaukee, WI, Amelia Allen, of Milwaukee, WI, Henry Allen, Jr., (Melrose) of Lake Providence, LA, Robert Allen, of Lake Providence, LA, Jessie Closure (Robert), of Atlanta, GA, Celia Allen, of Milwaukee, WI, Willie Earl Allen, of Milwaukee, WI, Delores Ann Allen-Lord (Tyrone), of Chicago, IL, Rosalyn Kay Allen-Mattox (John), of Milwaukee, WI, Odessa Marie Allen, of Plano, TX, Mildred Jackson, of Vallejo, CA, Eronda Williams, of Dallas, TX, Henrietta Coleman, of Vicksburg, MS, Lawanda Coleman, of Monroe, LA, and D’Tasha Coleman, of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Jochebed Allen, Uriah Allen, Rakim Allen, Jarahell Allen, Rivera Allen, Eleazar Allen, Shekinah Allen, and Zacchaeus DeAngelo Bell; great-grandchildren, Zipporah Allen, Antonijah Anderson, Jaazaniah Rushing, Zephaniah Allen, Amirah Allen, Jeremiah Allen, Neveah Allen, and Hazaiah Israel Allen; and a host of other nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
