EMANUEL FREDRICK JONES, SR. affectionately known as (Papa Emanuel) was born July 7, 1947 in Lake Providence, Louisiana to the late Clarence Parker, Sr. and Katherine Jones.
Emanuel accepted Christ in 1959 at New Morning Star on the Island under the leadership of Reverend Fred Wilson.
As a child, he loved to sing and play the guitar. Emanuel would travel across the Delta singing and playing music with multiple groups. Upon the completion of high school, he attended Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Louisiana where he received an Associate Degree.
He enlisted in the Army and served his country for multiple years between 1966 and 1969. He was a Vietnam War Veteran.
After leaving the military, Emanuel pursued multiple professions including the management of a plant nursery in Transylvania, Louisiana, as well as several years of service with the Town of Lake Providence as a deputy for the police department and a water treatment technician for the water department.
In the late 1980s, Emanuel accepted his calling and became an ordained minister. Additionally, he was pastor of multiple congregations over the years: Evening Star #2, Morning Star (Dunn, La.), New Morning Star on the Island, Palestine Missionary Baptist Church, and Progressive Chapel Baptist Church. Reverend Jones served in many capacities over the years including work as a Promise Keepers. He became the founder of the Unity Mass Youth Choir and unified churches in the community by building the youth of Lake Providence. His love for people and family was infectious and benevolent.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Gloria ( Dean) Jones and children: Jerome Williams, Tyrone Williams( Meka) and Latosha Williams, Rachelle Davis (David), Laisca Dixon (Glenn), Sonja Shields (Nelson), Frentresa Smith (Rodney), Dedric Winston (Ashley), Candyce Grant (Earl) , Dava Adlain (Emmanuel), and Emanuel Jones, Jr. Brothers and Sisters: Deloris Jones Reed, Ollice J. Jones aka O.J, Mauldine Grey Shoemaker and Clarence Parker, Jr., and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings Alvin Jones, and Gloria Jones.
